Not long after Beth Ariel was birthed in 1996, some members of the congregation had it on their hearts to begin a street ministry, a door to door outreach to the Jewish people of Montreal. With a population of close to 100,000 and with our Jewish communities demographically knitted so closely together, it was not difficult to identify where to go as long as we always knew to walk behind the prayer support of warriors who backed up the team and of course the Lord who led the way into many conversations.

We have given out more than 1800 bible sets (Old and New Testament) to Jewish homes. We are greatly indebted to the Society for the Publication of Hebrew Scriptures, who has provided these free bibles for distribution to Jewish non believers.

One sows, another reaps but we are all to enjoy the ingathering together.

Welcome to Knock and Talk. Join us in prayer as we go door to door together, sharing the truth of Who Yeshua (Jesus) is.

The Radiance of the Sun of Righteousness

As the sun reaches high and basks our faces with warmth we can hear the smooth and bluesy voice from Ella Fitzgerald singing,

“Summertime, and the livin’ is easy
Fish are jumpin’ and the cotton is high…”

It’s actually a lullaby assuring the little one that all is well and peace abounds. But summer is also a time to work. That Hebrew word

Avodah means both work and worship. So work is a way to worship. And worship brings assurance and peace as we, children of the Great God on high, sing our own lullaby from His Word. Not so much to put us to sleep but to put our angst to rest, hearing Him say, “Be still and know that I am God.” In all seasons of life we seek wisdom, for it will refresh our soul, keep us upright, and when we lie down to sleep, it will be a sweet one (Proverbs 3). As the sun reflects rays of warmth, let’s never forget what the true Son can do for us… “Those who look to Him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame.” (Psalm 34:5).

Shalom to all! Welcome back to Knock and Talk.

Although it is still the summer, two of our outreach members felt that since the peace of God does not leave us when we are wise enough to grasp it, why not take that peace right now, back into Jewish homes? There was one team of two people whose conviction to go was graciously led by God. He went before them as they gave out a total of 9 Bible sets, plus 1 Tanak (Old Testament only) and 2 English only Bibles.

Here is the report:

The Word of God Can Transcend Any Barrier

Knock-and-Talk-June 20 2016

Good evening everyone!

As you know, every night of outreach is special for us, but this last Monday (June 20th) was exceptional because it was our last outreach of the season before we resume next fall, after the Jewish feasts. When we started the outreach some 16 years ago, our idea was to do it in the summer, but we quickly discovered that most people were not home during this vacation time period. This leaves us to focus on the months between September and June.

The Power of the Word

God’s Word will never stump us in gaining truth

Shalom, everyone! Though the summer break is fast approaching, we still look forward to ground breaking results as we continue to plant curiosity and hope in people’s minds and hearts. Wouldn’t it be great to one day to be breaking bread with some of these same people? God showers His love and blessings on the people we find on our way and that keeps our testimony to these people fruitful. We had 2 teams this past Monday night: Mark and Danielle and Catherine and myself (Hugues). We wanted to finish that wonderful building where we were blessed, these past few weeks, by such a great amount of bibles distributed as well as great conversations.

A Wind of His Blessings

A strong wind brought relief to an otherwise hot and humid evening, a foreshadowing of the refreshing and regenerating work of the Ruach (spirit/wind) Hakodesh(Holy) as we witnessed another whirlwind response this past Monday night. There were three of us on the team: Danielle, Catherine and myself (Marc L.). The two ladies spoke at the doors while I jotted down the conversations that ensued. At the very first door we knocked on, a French lady refused without even looking at the books or listening. She gave us a solid “No, thank you”.

Next, we met a man who opened his door while still on the phone . He kept the person on hold while telling us that after having gone through the Holocaust, and now at 86 years old, he didn’t need what we were offering. Catherine told him about a life of blessing attainable through the Hebrew Scriptures and offered the prophecy bookmark as well. The gentleman ended up taking the full set. Praise Yeshua!

The Wonders of God

What is wonder? It’s what takes your breath away and then when you get it back again, you are changed because of the wonder that has filled you.

Shalom Aleichem!

Although I am always repeating that the night of outreach was amazing, there are no empty echoes here. Rather it is a confirmation of God’s amazing work. New souls are each time receiving the Scriptures and that is what qualifies these evenings as truly amazing! The wonders of God are always a matter of perspective. Don’t say your day was awful, but instead, unearth the true root of that word. We treasure the awe-filled moments each day and with each evening’s outreach.

No Strings Attached

Knock-and-Talk-34 May 9 2016

The offer of a free bible set provokes some to ask… “Where’s the catch?”… Our answer: God catches us off guard every time we see how He controls everything pitched our way.

Shalom everyone!

We are grateful to God for the lovely night we had! Catherine, who participated in the outreaches almost every week these last 3 years was thrilled to join us once again after being away because of health issues.  It was equally joyous for us to have her back! We were two teams on Monday evening: Catherine and Danielle formed the first team while Sarah and I (Hugues) formed the second one.

Once again we started out in a new building and as is often the blessing from our great God, the front door quickly opened and we gained access in. Starting on the top floor, Danielle and Catherine knocked on a door and met a woman who had some difficulties walking. She also shared about a wound to her eye. She gladly took a set and said that it was a great blessing for her.  She even maintained that this was a specific divine encounter at a very important time in her life! Her eye injury did not block her positive view of this offer nor did her poor gait slow her down in receiving the gift.

The Word of God Will Not Return Void

Knock-and-Talk-May 2 2016

This past Monday night, we were one team: Danielle, Sarah and me (Tina). We decided to go back to the same part of town where we had left off last week. It was clear that there would be far fewer mezuzahs than expected since Jewish people have moved on while others have moved in. As usual, we began the evening with the expectation of being a blessing to the Jews. It’s so amazing how every time we need to enter a building, the Lord always provides people who let us in. It was the same again this past Monday. However in the first four buildings we visited, there were either no mezuzahs at all, or refusals, or no one answered.

Sharing His Word

This Monday night April 25, 2016, we were one team. Danielle, Sarah and myself (Tina). We began the evening with a new apartment building. We had only to wait a few minutes when two people walked up to the door, and let us in. There were only a few mezuzahs in this building, but every door provides an opportunity. At the first door we met an older woman using a walker. We told her our purpose for the visit and she asked us whether we were Jewish. Danielle explained that we love the Jewish people because we received the Word of God through them. She was surprised, accepted the set and then told us that she was going to show it to her sister who was married to a rabbi.

A Divine Arrangement

Isn’t it fascinating and ironic how because of fear of persecution, some Jews may not put a mezuzah on their door frame while some non-Jews have inadvertently been blessed by keeping it there?

Shalom everyone!

Monday night was unique and special! Danielle, Tina, and I made one team and we started off in a large apartment building. The minute we entered the lobby, we read a warning about surveillance cameras and the interception of solicitors. Although technically we do not sell anything, we agreed that we should not start our evening there, but rather try the smaller building just across the street.

We arrived at the same moment as another woman and so we simply followed her in. Another case of divine timing. This was a small 5 storey building. As is our custom, we began on the top floor, where we found only one door with a mezuzah. We knocked  and a voice from behind the door asked us what the call was all about. Tina explained that we were there to offer a gift to her and all the Jewish families of this building. A  black  and very responsive woman opened her door and was softhearted when we offered her a set of the Scriptures.

An amazing night and amazing grace!

Knock and talk April 14 2016

Shalom everyone!

We started out the evening with two teams: Danielle, Tina, Sarah, and me. We still had two more buildings to explore in this neighborhood through Knock and Talk. We decided to go with the smaller building first. Just as we were praying to the Lord to open the hearts as well as the doors that night, someone drove up to the front driveway to drop someone off. Tina then rushed out of our car, and got there just in time to get in through the front door. Great moment!
