Not long after Beth Ariel was birthed in 1996, some members of the congregation had it on their hearts to begin a street ministry, a door to door outreach to the Jewish people of Montreal. With a population of close to 100,000 and with our Jewish communities demographically knitted so closely together, it was not difficult to identify where to go as long as we always knew to walk behind the prayer support of warriors who backed up the team and of course the Lord who led the way into many conversations.

We have given out more than 1800 bible sets (Old and New Testament) to Jewish homes. We are greatly indebted to the Society for the Publication of Hebrew Scriptures, who has provided these free bibles for distribution to Jewish non believers.

One sows, another reaps but we are all to enjoy the ingathering together.

Welcome to Knock and Talk. Join us in prayer as we go door to door together, sharing the truth of Who Yeshua (Jesus) is.

May Your Truth Fill All the Corners of Our Heart

Jewish people all over the world are getting ready for Passover. Some just buy unleavened bread or matzah, but others spend weeks on end scouring every corner of their entire home for crumbs of leavening. They have zeal, but most are without knowledge of the true Passover Lamb, Yeshua, Who is the fulfillment of the feast. Passover begins at sundown on April 10 and ends at sundown on April 18 this year.

As believers, we are called to celebrate the Feast of Passover by examining our own lives so as to rid ourselves of the leaven of malice and wickedness. (1 Cor. 5:7,8) Intentionally evil thoughts, words, and acts will pollute our whole being (Gal. 5:9), so we need to resist them when we are tempted. Let’s prepare ourselves for Passover this year by deliberately walking in sincerity and truth. May this, His truth, fill up every corner of our heart (see below).

Teach Us To Number Our Days

Teach us to number our days O Lord, for (with the exception of the Rapture) we will, like our fathers and mothers before us, knock on death’s door, at Your appointed time. As we pass through that door and into eternity, may the joy of Your presence Lord, complete our earthly journey with the precious words, “Well done, good and faithful servant.” May this become a reality for many who are not saved, for those whom we love so dearly.

Under His Sacrificial Care

Henrietta did not want to be the sacrifice for the soup (please see below). That would be a recipe for disaster.
We would all be better off remembering that one. Rather than be a sacrifice, we need to have the ultimate sacrifice, the Messiah, as so clearly stated in Isaiah 53. Let’s remember that even the healthiest soup will never make us holy. Nothing we eat or touch can transmit any measure of holiness to us except for when we ourselves are touched by the Holy One of Israel. Then we will be souped-up indeed, dressed in white as we one day partake in that Messianic meal with all the saints. Will they serve angel food cake? We can only soupose.

The Balm for a Broken Heart

This past week, there were at least 10 JCC’s (Jewish Community Centers) across the US which were a target for bomb threats. Buffalo NY’s JCC was one of those targeted (see below). While the world rears its evil through the likes of scare tactics, hate and violence, we look to another source to calm our apprehensions. The Lord has given us the Balm of Gilead, one that does not threaten our well being, but points to hope and healing, the healing of spiritual wounds from the effects of warfare with the world. Yeshua’s salvation is our utter healing balm. We pray that many will have this balm applied over their own hearts.

Made in China

It’s quite an enigma because Jews and Chinese people share so little in common politically, geographically and religiously… or so we thought….

A remarkable link is made with (Bishop)Samuel Isaac Joseph Schereschewsky, a  Jewish Lithuanian who received Messiah Yeshua, went to China as a missionary and helped to translate, along with four others, the Hebrew Old Testament into Mandarin. This work was certainly not ‘wanton’, but wise and scholarly.

He Has the Right of Way

Sometimes when we go out door to door, people ask us why we do what we do, especially when it’s cold outside. But it’s not about us and what we do. So we point our answers to Yeshua because it’s all about what He did. It is Yeshua Who has the right of way, having privilege and eternal seniority, always going ahead of us.  We are not only looking to answer their questions rightly but we are hoping they will one day ask, “How can we be right before God?”

May the Lord’s right arm bring them out of a dead end and onto His freeway.

January 30th, 2017 Montreal Outreach Report:

As we went door to door we were two teams of two and again blessed to have another sister praying and keeping a warm vehicle ready for us just in case. We thank God for His protection as the sidewalks and the driveways were slippery. Praise God; a total of six sets were given!

Making Our ‘Amen’ Count

The Bible not only has a last word in it, which is “amen” but it has the last word over all things.

January 23, 2017 Montreal Outreach Report:

As we went door to door we were again three members forming the team with one of our sisters in the car praying and providing us with physical shelter from the cold. It was a particularly windy and cold night. We thank God for all His provisions and care!

Praise God a total of six sets were given!

The first set was given to a young man who was in his garage at the time. While offer

The Lord Does Not Slumber or Allow Us to Slip

In French, the word for scale is “balance”. Our responsibility as believers is to balance our Christian walk to such a degree that the scale tips in favor of righteousness. The glory of God is a weighty matter indeed (that is actually a root meaning for the word glory (Hebrew= Kavod = weighty or awesome)… and our balancing actions must be dedicated to the spiritual disciplines, such as praying, reading and meditating on the Word so that we gain more of God’s presence in our lives. Perhaps this would be one of the few times we look to actually gain weight… the weight of God’s glory in us.

January 16, 2017 Montreal Outreach Report:
It was a beautiful evening with mild weather as we went door to door for the first time in 2017. We made up one team of three, plus another sister who joined us in her car for prayer. We realized at the last minute we didn’t have any English New Testaments with us however we were able to get some from our pastor’s home just around the corner. Behind in our usual time schedule, we still gave out all the English sets we had – six! The very first four homes of the night accepted them which was a real encouragement to start us off!

It’s All About His Call

knock-and-talk-december-19-2016
His Word is the truth and so we thank Him that we answered His call. Because of that, we do not need to guess whether our life is lost… it is found in His hands. He can call us out from anywhere.

December 19, 2016 outreach Montreal, Quebec

Again, it was a blessed evening as we went door to door for the last time this year. It was a cold night but we have been blessed these past weeks to have a sister from the congregation following us in her car, being there to provide the warm shelter of a heated vehicle on these frigid evenings.  We thank God for His provision, care, and protection (we had freezing rain just the day before). But thanks be to God that everything went well.  Praise God that four sets were given; we also had eight refusals.

Blessings Through an Opened Window

Look through window from abandoned stone house in the mountain

Daniel the prophet prayed and gave thanks to God in front of his open windows three times a day, kneeling toward Jerusalem, his voice heard by those outside. (Dan. 6:10). We lift our voices in prayer before we knock on doors each week, petitioning the God of Israel to give a window of opportunity for the gospel to be heard. Some are shut by those inside and yet others are thrown open. May His Word make clear the way for their salvation.
