john-3v16Peter had warmed himself in front of a fire of coals, nestled alongside people whom he feared more than he feared Yeshua. And Peter wasn’t just standing by the fire of coals. Luke said that he was actually sitting by the fire. Was he getting too comfortable among the crowd? What happens when we get too comfortable in the world?
Yet what a scene of love that Yeshua orchestrated that night. We have here two stages, two scenes going on at the same time.
While Peter is outside, warming his body, taking shelter with those who oppose Yeshua and denying any knowledge of Him, Yeshua is inside the house of the high priest, being spat on, being beaten, and ready to knowingly identify with humanity by soon taking on the sins of humanity… while Peter sins, Yeshua saves. Such is God’s story of His amazing love.
Blessings as you listen in to the message with Messianic leader, Jacques Isaac Gabizon in The Gospel of Matthew, chapter 26, shalom.
